Accredited by the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers, this course is unique with its focus on design and plant experiences from across commodities. “It provides engineers and scientists in hydrometallurgy not only with the underlying fundamentals but guides them through the specifics and novel aspects of leaching reactors,” says course presenter, Dr Frank Crundwell.
Delegates particularly found the design aspects (impeller design, gas-liquid mass transfer) and reaction kinetics exciting, and many felt that they could immediately implement some of the new insights gained - much of which came from the sharing of experiences and lively discussions.
Delegates benefited from the extensive experience of Crundwell, who in his 30-year career has worked as a Mintek research engineer, professor at Wits University, in industry at Impala and BHP Billiton, and currently as a design consultant in CM Solutions. He has also published over 90 papers, many of which cover innovative aspects of leaching.
Delegates at the CM Solutions Leaching course came from companies as diverse as WorleyParsons Mutanda, Sibanye, Minopex, Golden Pond, Weatherly Mining, Mintek, Stellenbosch University and ATS Research.
